Ponies and Posies was born in Sonoma, CA, USA in March 2015....

My name is Shariyah and I am a stay-at-home-Mama to Elysian who also happens to be my very own little model and the inspiration behind my line of Flower Crowns and Baby Bonnets. My pregnancy with Elysian was a healthy, full term pregnancy and one of the best experiences of my life, and then one day during a routine checkup to monitor her heartbeat and movement, we lost her heartbeat completely. My natural “Lotus” birth-plan quickly went out the window, and I was rushed to the operating room where I was put under a general anesthetic while Elysian was born via an emergency caesarean.



Elysian was without oxygen for close to 30 minutes, so the prognosis was grim and the doctor’s weren’t optimistic to say the least, but together with my husband, friends, family as well as strangers we hadn’t even met, we stood on our faith and prayed for God to perform miracles. Today, Elysian is very much alive, healthy, and one of the happiest little girls I have ever known!



The only side effect from her birth experience is a portion of her hearing being impaired, which is known as high-frequency hearing loss. At about 6 months of age, Elysian was fitted with hearing aids to help her hear 'everything’, but she seemed more intent upon ripping the hearing aids out of her ears and it proved to be quite difficult for us to keep them in for long periods of time. This is what inspired my line of baby bonnets, which proved to be a solution to this problem! The baby bonnets started as a functional and beautiful way to keep Elysians hearing aids in, and has now evolved into handmade flower crowns and other pretty things!

I've always been drawn to timeless and classic designs, but I've found it quite a mission to source certain products for both Elysian and I, which made it an easy decision to start my own business and offer some of my favourite things to others. The support I have received since launching Ponies and Posies has been amazing, and I am having so much fun designing and creating these timeless classics for you all! Each item is handcrafted, and I put a huge amount of care, time and attention to detail into my work. I hope that my favourite things become some of yours too!
